In honor of Father's Day, I thought a column on the cars, the second true love of many men, was appropriate. Among the men in my life, most of them, if not all, love their cars. "It's a guy thing," my son told me when I because of their need for a new car or truck.
But it was my father whose love of cars revved up his ambition. One type of entrepreneur, he could never settle into a job and over time began and drove into the ground a number of companies, but the constant is the automobile.
It always seemed to have a new, the latest model.I remember his joy when he got a Corvette, one of the first American sports car. He took me for a ride in both places and squeezed my knee in his joy at his car.
